Does cotton flower become a fruit like any other plant?

There is a moral story in my mother tongue that a parrot got disappointed as she was waiting patiently to eat the cotton fruit which will never be possible. How cotton fibre comes out?
Does cotton flower become a fruit like any other plant?
Yes cotton flower becomes a fruit like any other fruiting/ flowering plant.

Later on , after fertilization , the flower turns in to a fruit and that fruit CONTAINS in side the seeds .

Cotton fibers are the cellulose outgrowths / hair on the seed surface.

Reply:Fruit yes but not really at all in any traditional sense. Remember the old argument is it a fruit or vegetable?? The seed head is not replaced by any fuit as that release of the seeds and the cotton is the end of the life cycle. If anything you could look at as a nut bearing plant that turns into a very fluffly mouthful of yuck that makes you sound just like the godfarter via MARLON BRANDO..

Is Canola flower grown in india and is it tapped commercially and what is its Hindi name.?

In India, canola is uncommon, but other species such as Brassica juncea, Brassica nigra and Sinapis alba are widely used for oil extraction.

Canola is the acronym for the Canadian Oil Low Acid crop, developed in 1974, by the Canadian plant breeders from the oil seed rape, genetically modified by conventional techniques, to make it fit for human consumption. Canola is very low in erucic acid (about one per cent), and glucosinolates (30 μ mol/g). It is considered a healthy edible oil as it contains about 70 per cent of monounsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid, more than most other edible oils. Canola seed cake can be used as cattle and poultry feed. People miscall it as Rai in Hindi.
Is Canola flower grown in india and is it tapped commercially and what is its Hindi name.?
Canola/Rapeseed is farmed in Northern and Eastern India and tapped commercially for what is known as Rapeseed oil, which is a used as a cooking medium. There is a difference between Rapeseed oil and Canola oil. While the former contains significant amounts of a poisonous substance called erucic acid, the latter contains only traces of the same. In fact Canola oil has been developed through hybridisation of Rapeseed.

References to oilseed rape, called Sarson were found in ancient Sanskrit writings as early as 2000 B.C. The variety Brassica Campestris is thought to be the oldest variety of rapes and mustards grown in India.White Teeth

Question about flower children/hippies...?

I don%26#039;t mean to offend anybody here, but are people who associated themselves as being a hippie back in the 1960s and 1970s more likely to have a mood or personality disorder then people who rejected the hippie movement?

What about people who were hippies back then and still are today?
Question about flower children/hippies...?
I was a young flower child. And yes, I think I%26#039;m crazier than most people I%26#039;ve met!

I wouldn%26#039;t blame it on being a hippie, though. I blame it more on the transition from traditional %26quot;mom-in-the-house-dad-the bread-winner%26quot; to %26quot;i-am-woman- watch-me-ruin- men-and-children%26quot; attitudes that happened during my childhood and adolescent years.

And the mind-altering substances contributed, too! ;-)
Reply:On one hand, you had the long-haired hippies in sandals who believed in Gandhi and global love and peace and skinny-dipping and tolerance and equality and homegrown pot. On the other hand, you had the anal hypocritical fearful folks with white plastic pocket protectors and black-rimmed glasses (for spottin%26#039; commies and pinkos), who believed in Nixon and intolerance and the Viet Nam war and napalm and superiority and greed and the missionary position (except with their mistresses) and racism (no Blacks in TV commercials, PLEASE! Eeeeeeeew!) and sexism (A woman who wants a college degree is a dyke!) and nationalism and ulcers and %26quot;make-a-pharmaceutical-company-rich%26quot; Valium. I assure you, the only mood or personality disorder that came out of those times didn%26#039;t come from people who wrote or listened to music like the Beatles.

Reply:Each generation has its iconic behavior. The %26quot;flappers%26quot; of the %26quot;Roaring Twenties%26quot;, where men were treated to seeing a glimpse of the knees. Young women took up a cigerette (from a lengthy stem, no less). Then there were the college goldfish swallowers, a mental group if ever there was.

Today, we are treated to engravings of every sort and color from every part of the human body, metal punctured through every part imaginable, hair in metalic shades (some not of this planet), hair imitating porquipines, and cats in terror, hair in the form of shredded and abandoned rope, and, on either or any sex, hair that isn%26#039;t.

People roam about in what used to be considered underware. Boys and young men wear pants that would fit conjoined triplets-without a belt! Caps sideways; backwards; watch caps in the heat of July and heavy coats; shoes UNTIED.

The observable mental defects can all be attributed to youth. It is a time when the feeling is to %26quot;strike out on ones own%26quot;; to be ones own self, yet at the same time needing to fit in (%26quot;conform%26quot; is the word).

Each generation feels abuzz with idealism, and, thus, gets caught up in the mass enthusaism for change. The easy manifestation occurs superficailly at the surface. So the extemes erupt to %26quot;flag%26quot;, %26quot;I%26#039;m with it%26quot;.

This is not to say that significant changes aren%26#039;t steered by each generational flux. The hippy movement, for example, created great momentum in the way of consceousness; of the earth; of others rights; and of self and health, with better food. It can equally be faulted as being the epicenter of the downward spiral in sexual immorality, with all its ensuing hazards and costs in every way.

How do plants know when to flower? Have you noticed that many early flowers are yellow? Why is that so?

they%26#039;re yellow to attract bees/insects for pollination.

and they flower when there are many insects around to pollinate them - usually in spring when its warm and sunny. they can detect how much sunlight they are exposed to and can tell when this is.
How do plants know when to flower? Have you noticed that many early flowers are yellow? Why is that so?
Do you instruct your hair to grow ? Or does it grow naturally.

Similarly plants also flower naturally.

I dont know the second answer
Reply:It is because of the biological clock. And no I never note that.
Reply:Plants know when to bloom by the amount of sunlight they recieve each day. Plants have a biological clock that is very accurate. In commercial flower production facilities, the number of hours of light a plant gets is regulated so as to force the plant to bloom at the right time. I have never noticed that plants that bloom early are more often yellow. But perhaps they are and I have just not paid attention to that.
Reply:The flowering plants don%26#039;t command themselves to produce flower. However when there are the right conditions for an offspring to be produced, the plant automatically produces flowers to attract insects to help them with pollination. As a result the fruit will be produced.

That%26#039;s why in spring we see a lot of flowers because the wheater and enviroment would be perfect for them to do so. If you notice, when flowers open up in spring and then rain falls the flowers wear off the tree because the temperature has gone down!visual arts

Where do flower bulbs come from and are they all perennials?

How do bulbous plants reproduce and form new bulbs? When my tulips or daffodils wilt, I don%26#039;t see any seeds or bulbs forming. Are all bulbs perennials?
Where do flower bulbs come from and are they all perennials?
They reproduce by seed, or bulblettes that form on the sides of the bulb and grow to be bulbs. That is why these plants make big clumps in nature. Also, bulbs can be considered perrenials because they come back every year.
Reply:Flower bulbs are perennials. The bulbs hide in the ground throughout the winter and come up in the spring. Soon the daffodils will come up.
Reply:Daffodils come from Holland you would think, but they are all over the world where they can sustain life they don%26#039;t reproduce as normal plants but live, produce and go dormant in extreme weather, only to revive in more temperate times, they are an extremely hardy plant.Shoes

About indoor flower plants???

Please help..
About indoor flower plants???
If they were nursery grown, and they have been blooming for a while, it could just be time for them to die back. Just trim off the dead flowers and wait for more blooms.

If you fertilized it to give it a little pep, you might have %26quot;over fertilized%26quot; them and burned them. Remove the drip pan from the bottom and water a lot to help flush out the fertilizer. Them don%26#039;t refertilize for about 6 months.
Reply:First we need to know how big they are, are they potted and what size pot, what type they are. But the rule of thumb has always been if they top soil feels dry and/or the leaves look droopy like all the life has gone out of them then water. Don%26#039;t over water. Just give them enough so that the ground around them stops sucking up the water so readily.

Also put them in or by a window that gets at least a couple of hours of sun a day.

Feed them plant food once every six month.

If they are cold sensitive keep them out of drafts in the winter time.
Reply:Your first two answers are good so I will not repeat but you cannot take a plant from inside and put it in direct sun, the sun is too strong this time of year. It needs to be conditioned which means you have to shield it from direct sunlight for a week or so. Stick you finger in to your knuckle and if it feels damp then leave it alone. It depends on the plant and some plants cannot dry out so keep in mind on a windy, sunny day it will dry out rapidly.
Reply:check to see if your daisies are root bound, and need a bigger pot. it sounds like they do,because when you water them, the water goes to the side of the pot and runs out,so the plants are dry because the water didn%26#039;t go to the roots.nanny

I have flower beds along my house that are enclosed by brick..?

the soil seems to be very dry in it, needs constant watering, what would be something good i can add to it to help that?
I have flower beds along my house that are enclosed by brick..?
You could buy a soaker hose and place it directly in the beds and leave it there. Then every so many days hook your regular garden hose up to it and let it run a couple hours to get a good soaking. That has worked for me. Good Luck!
Reply:Dig it up, add lots of mulch, and plant things that don%26#039;t require a lot of water. Also can try putting big rocks or planted pots too down in between the plants to help conserve water from evaporating.
Reply:you can dig up the soil and mix in some peat moss and potting soil with the soil that is already in it!they will help retain the moisture! and it helps to water it with a soaker hose but not all of the time because if you leave one on it all of the time it will become to moist and have fungus!
Reply:Yes the soaker hose is a good idea, also to hold in the moisture, a good mulch in the bed, either bark or composted leaves, etc. Peat moss holds in moisture also.

When the mulch gets going and is thick enough, add some worms for aeration. But don%26#039;t drown the worms.

You can put your coffee grounds and apple peels, etc. in the bed to decompose for more mulch and to feed the worms.skin disease

it depends on the church, if the church is fine with scattering petals then go with that, if not then just give them a bouquet

I like the little pomanders myself. That%26#039;s what my daughter-in-law chose for her little flower girl and it was really cute!
Reply:I used both depending on the age. If the child could hold a basket and let the petals fall then I gave her a basket. If the child was small and had a hard time holding the pomander usually has a ribbon for holding.
Reply:Either one is acceptable, just consider the age of the flower girl. My friend had a two little girls, a two year old and a three year old and tried to let them carry baskets, but one just dumped all the flowers at the beginning of the aisle and the other walked all the way down the aisle without dropping any petals because she was so nervous! The pomanders would have been cuter in that situation. But if they are old enough to handle it, I think it%26#039;s your choice.
Reply:They can carry anything you like. I wasn%26#039;t so keen on the idea of my flower girl carrying a basket with flower petals, and the pomander wasn%26#039;t my style. I had my flower girl carry a small bouquet with black magic roses (same as everyone else had) and some wax flowers, made it a little more suitable for a little girl. The pomander would be good if you had especially younger flower girls though I would imagine.fitness

If the flower doesnt glow with beauty why kill it?

Was asked this today, anyone know a good response to this question?
If the flower doesnt glow with beauty why kill it?
If at all there is an ugly flower, it is indispensable since it adds to and defines the beautiful one.
Reply:why ask the question? I wouldn%26#039;t kill a ungly flower
Reply:Like the flower on a dandelion, it is not glowing but it is useful, bees need it for pollen, and we eat them for lettuce, in other cases, I guess it is because they have a purpose and the plain has a beauty all on its own.
Reply:The mind only seeks what it thinks it will find... Such is a biased means...... But, to find beauty in everything requires a true understanding to which many of us cannot afford.....

花(화) hwa/hua is used as Cinese character meaning flower in word making like:

開花하다 literary meanning %26quot;to do open flower%26quot; meaning to blossom....
Reply:iloveyun2007,

Koreans don%26#039;t use it as Chinese characters, they are Chinese characters. The Korean pronunciation %26quot;hwa%26quot;, is from Mandarin Chinese %26quot;hua%26quot;. They write Sino-Korean hangul/hangeul according to it.

開花 = to bloom, blossom [in Chinese, kai hua: 開 kai = to open, 花 hua = flower(s)].

하다 hada = Korean for %26quot;to do, to make%26quot;

so literally, 開花하다 = to do/make open flower? = to make a flower bloom or blossom, as if it wouldn%26#039;t on it%26#039;s own and need our help.

As I stated above, it already has a meaning %26quot;to bloom%26quot;.

It%26#039;s redundant: the Chinese word kai 開 is already a verb? I guess Koreans tried to %26quot;Koreanize%26quot; 開花?genealogy mormon

What is the name of a flower formed of multiple small flowers that are rose & yellow, it's found in many parks

More than likely it%26#039;s a Lantana. There are several varieties in different colors, but the pink/yellow/white combo is probably the most common. It grows like a weed here in Texas but usually dies back after the first frost and returns from roots/seeds in the spring.

This site has some good info and a picture.
What is the name of a flower formed of multiple small flowers that are rose %26amp; yellow, it%26#039;s found in many parks
Certainly could be Lantana but there is also a variety of Yarrow that is yellow with pink edges, very pretty.

If the leaf of the plant is soft and fern-like, it%26#039;s probably yarrow, if the leaf is kind of oval shaped, it%26#039;s probably lantana.Soles

If you pour tea into a flower pot with a flower, what will happen?

will it die

or help it?
If you pour tea into a flower pot with a flower, what will happen?
weak tea is good for plants..also ground up egg shells is very good for plants...
Reply:Really hot tea would cause shock and root damage. Cold tea in small doses would be harmless to most pot plants and large shrubs.
Reply:Nothing, usually. But if the plant prefers basic soil, the tea could cause it to go into shock making it droopy, maybe even browning a bit. This is the worst case scenario, and it will only cause this if it is a delicate plant. I cannot see any way it would cause it to die unless it is a venus flytrap (one of the pickiest plants in the world)
Reply:the tea will provide organic nitrogen. the only flower i know of that gets screwed up by nitrogen is a daffodil, (messes up the bulb process or something). Tea is fine for most plants.White Teeth

What color flower boquet should I have with a "copper" prom dress?

The dress Is at this website:

http://www.tonybowls.com/PhotoImage.aspx...

It is a %26quot;copper%26quot; dress and I don%26#039;t really know what would go well with it. I was thinking white lillys, but maybe you guys have some more creative ideas? Thanks and have a great night!
What color flower boquet should I have with a %26quot;copper%26quot; prom dress?
Absolutely gorgeous dress! I am assuming the link didn%26#039;t allow you to show it in Copper. I think a mix of petit dark yellow roses, medium yellow cabbage roses, and off-white lillies.

(the type of rose not the color)

So you can see the flowers that I am thinking about.
Reply:I%26#039;m thinking yellow or orange tiger lillies.
Reply:Love the dress! And I love your suggestion of lillies. I like calla lillies, and they come in several different colors. Yellow callas would be great. I have seen some great roses that are an orangy-copper color, too. If you want something more subtle try cream colored roses or some nice pale yellow roses with other white accent flowers. Depending on how %26quot;coppery%26quot; the dress is you might be able to pull off light pink with cream accents.
Reply:WHITE LILLYS WOULD BE WONDERFUL! It will add %26quot;pop%26quot; to the dress. Even though it%26#039;s really simple, it will make it really pretty.
Reply:first off, GORGEOUS dress! love it! but in the picture it looks more pale green than copper. I would totally use pink and yellow flowers with it. there%26#039;s an awesome rose called a peace rose that is pinkish with a yellow tint, or a mix of pink and yellow hydrangeas if you could get them in a corsage would look really tight.
Reply:Maybe a peachish color flower....Try going to the florist and bring with you a photo of the dress (make sure the color in the pic is accurate) to try out some different colors. Or you could bring the dress with you to a garden and see what colors look best wiht it
Reply:yellow, white, and maybe a pale pink
Reply:yellow roses
Reply:Maybe orange or dark red roses. White lillies sound pretty too though. Maybe some stars of Bethlehem.
Reply:White lilies would be nice, but if your dress is copper (not green like the pic) then orange roses might be nice, I%26#039;d have to see the exact dress to be sure.
Reply:A white camellia would be beautiful--a little expensive, though, I think. If it were homecoming time, I%26#039;d say one of those goldish/lighter-than-rust big mums, but . . . .I guess if you get one that you wear on your wrist, an orchid would be okay.
Reply:something peach with pink and yellow flowers
Reply:I would go with white or yellow
Reply:can%26#039;t go wrong with white.
Reply:Yellow.......for sure
Reply:White anything white matches everything. Pretty dress!skin disease

Can a flower girl be of any age?

at a wedding

?
Can a flower girl be of any age?
Acutally most flower girls are under the age of 10.

In reality you can have the flower girl be any age, yet folks would wonder why. If she is older, then make her a jr bridesmaid or if she is tall enough, a full bridesmaid or an usherette to hand out programs or something at the wedding itself.. then she will always be included.

Hope that helps.
Reply:It%26#039;s your wedding your money... Go for it...
Reply:Usually from four to 10.
Reply:Teenagers shouldnt be flower girls it would be embarrassing. I would agree that they need to be ten or under!!!
Reply:well i always thought that its nicer is they are under 8, my daughter is ten and thinks she is too old to be a flowergirl, yet she is not sure about being a bridesmaid.

I hope this helps.
Reply:Usually you see small girls (10 or under) being flower girls but brides get to do pretty much what they want at their wedding so if your aunt wants you to do it and you want to do it I see no reason for you not to.
Reply:I%26#039;ve seen adult flower girls in weddings - it can be whatever you want.

When I got married 3 years ago, our flower girl was 4 years old and I think that%26#039;s usually the average.
Reply:THEY CAN BE ANY AGE YOU WANT THEM TO BE , IT IS JUST SO CUTE WHEN THEY ARE YOUNG LITTLE ONES.
Reply:The guy says

%26quot;The job of a flower girl at a formal wedding is to walk down the aisle looking cute as the dickens, so everyone goes “awww.%26quot;

I myself belive under 9 butas this site says http://www.pegeen.com/flower-girl-dresse... it depends on the girl i remember a 14 yr old on Ya who was happy to be flower girl if the girl is happy and your Aunt is happy why not?
Reply:Most flower girls are 9 or younger but actually I%26#039;ve only known flower girls that were 5 or younger with one exception. One girl I knew in college had 5 bridesmaids and 5 flower girls. All 10 were college age. She didn%26#039;t want anyone of her friends to feel left out so she made her friends from home bridesmaids and her friends that she knew only in college to be flower girls. I must say it looked ridiculous.
Reply:Hi. No...a flower girl cannot be any age.

Traditionally, flower girls are between the ages of 4-8. You could maybe stretch it to 9 or 10....but that would be the cutoff. Anyone older than 10 should be a junior bridesmaid.
Reply:you could have a %26quot;junior bridesmaid%26quot; which would be a girl who is too old to be a flower girl but still a little too young to be a bridesmaid....
Reply:Our flower girl (my niece) will be 2 by the time the wedding rolls around in 134 days!

I%26#039;m prepared for whatever....she%26#039;s a teeny little thing, but I%26#039;m just so delighted to have her there sharing in our day.
Reply:yes of course they can...ask who ever you want =D

congrats if ur gettin married by the way

Reply:Yes they can. mine is 10. i was thinking to have the grandma%26#039;s throw pedals down but decided that MY grandma wouldnt do it so i went with a flower girl! :)
Reply:Yes y of course they can
Reply:flower girls can be of any age..but it would be awkward to have a teenager or older as a flower girl. People might mistake her to be a bridesmaid, and leave them to wonder where the flower girl is.make up

Is it time to cut the flower stems off my early flowering Perennials?

Like Geums and Hardy Geraniums.
Is it time to cut the flower stems off my early flowering Perennials?
After they are done blooming is usually a good time unless they produce seed that you want. The seed they produce takes energy away from the plant that it could be storing to grow bigger. Pretty much all flowers that have bulbs, corms, rhizomes, etc. can be cut anytime, but just make sure you leave the leaves so the plant can make more food.
Reply:You can cut them back when they begin to wither. Another option is to let the flower heads go to seed so you can collect them and dry them ready for next year. Are you aware that if you dead-head it will encourage the plant to produce more flowers. The proguction of flowers is the main objective of all plants, when you dead-head the plant will try to produce more flowers so it can re-produce.
Reply:I cut mine everytime they die I trim them. It makes them produce more. I do this with most my flowers, they produce more like my moss %26amp; petunias.
Reply:It depend on which variety you are growing, if it is everblooming variety than yes go a head and trim once the flowering season is over.make up

What color flower will go with a champagne colored prom dress that isn't yellow?

What color flower will go with a champagne colored prom dress that isn%26#039;t yellow?
I would suggest staying within the earthtones scale ... say, orange or peach with greenery softened by an ivory-colored baby%26#039;s breath. If you have lighter skin/hair, I%26#039;d go with the orange; if you have darker skin/hair, I%26#039;d go with the peachy tones.

Is petunia flower bisexual?

Yes ! They are Bisexual or hermaphrodite.

Petunia is a widely-cultivated genus of flowering plants of South American origin, in the family Solanaceae.

The popular flower got its name from French, which took the word petun %26#039;tobacco%26#039; from a Tupi-Guarani language.

Most of the varieties seen in gardens are hybrids.

A wide range of flower colors and sizes are available.

Some botanists place the plants of the genus Calibrachoa in the genus Petunia.

Botanically, tobacco plants and petunias are related and in both the flowers are bisexual . The family Solanaceae to which both of them belong contains has bisexual flowers only .

Other related plants are Tomato, Chillies or Capsicum, Potato and egg plant or Brinjal along with Datura and Cestrum.
